Toronto Maple Leafs Goalie Inching Closer to Return

While speaking with reporters, Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe noted that Matt Murray is "ahead of schedule" and that his return is "on the horizon."

The Maple Leafs certainly are hoping that Murray can return very shortly, as they just lost Ilya Samsonov to an injury, too. Therefore, they are running with AHL netminders as their duo, but if Keefe's words hold true, things on that front could change soon.

Murray has made just one appearance for the Leafs this season, and it was a rough one. He allowed four goals on just 23 shots, so it wasn't the best of first impressions. However, once he is ready to go, he has time to turn things around from here.
