3 Potential Trade Destinations for Rangers Alexis Lafreniere

The New York Rangers have decided to scratch former number one overall pick Alexis Lafreniere. Naturally, the trade rumors have begun as after a fourth-line demotion, Lafreniere finds himself in a suit eating popcorn in the press box. Let's examine a few teams who could be inquiring about the Rangers forward:

Chicago Blackhawks

This trade has been speculated for months as Patrick Kane could ask to be moved to the Rangers. If that's indeed the case, and Kane wants to reunite with Artemi Panarin, the Blackhawks could ask for a package with Lafreniere as the focal piece heading back to Chicago. The Rangers hold two first-round picks at this upcoming draft, and it would only take one of those, along with Lafreniere to complete this deal.

Anaheim Ducks

The Ducks are looking to make several moves before the March 3 trade deadline and have their eyes set out on the future. Adding the crafty Lafreniere to their talented forward group would be fun to watch in sunny California, and what could be if the Ducks then win the Connor Bedard sweepstakes on top of this deal. John Klingberg could interest the Rangers and so too could Troy Terry. Certainly plenty of options to consider between these two clubs if the Lafreniere talks start to amplify.

Vancouver Canucks

The Canucks are looking to move out some of their expensive forwards and with Bo Horvat and Brock Boeser both potential fits in New York, there could be a move to be made here. Lafreniere would give the Canucks a cheaper option up front and someone to play alongside Elias Pettersson. Lafreniere has recorded five goals and 17 points in 36 games this season and would be given lots of playing time in Vancouver to get his game back on track.
