Calgary Flames Call Up AHL Points Leader

The Calgary Flames have called up Matthew Phillips from the Calgary Wranglers.

Phillips has certainly earned this call-up, as he currently has 15 goals and a league-leading 30 points in just 20 AHL games this season. With the Flames performing a bit below expectations this season and having some scoring trouble compared to their division rivals (81 goals for), it makes sense for them to take a chance on the 5-foot-8 winger.

If Phillips' scoring touch can translate over to the NHL, he could earn himself a spot in the Flames' top nine for the season. We will have to wait and see how the 2016 sixth-round pick performs for Calgary from here.
