Dallas Stars' Top Trade Candidate This Season

The Dallas Stars are for real this season and will be looking to upgrade before the trade deadline, but they will need money to do so. They have two trade candidates in particular that would free up a good chunk of money and give them some financial flexibility - Denis Gurianov and Radek Faksa.

Faksa has a higher cap hit and is under contract for two more seasons after this one. He earns $3.25 million to be a fourth line centre and put up three goals and six points in 34 games. The Stars would definitely like to rid themselves of that money being wasted on the fourth line, but it will be more difficult to move than Gurianov who is on the final year of his deal.

Gurianov is a RFA at the end of the season and earns $2.9 million. Not only is he easier to move because of the cap hit and length of his contract, he is also four years younger than Faksa. They both have similar productivity, but Gurianov has a 20 goal season on his resume. Teams may be intrigued with Faksa since he has received Selke Trophy votes in the past, but has gone downhill the past couple of seasons.

Gurianov is currently on a leave of absence for personal reasons and the Stars aren't missing him from the lineup as he has just two goals and five points in 25 games. Watch for him to be included in any trade the team makes if they acquire someone of significant value and need the cap space.
