Injury Update On Avalanche's Nathan MacKinnon

He's been out since Dec. 5.

Colorado Avalanche superstar Nathan MacKinnon could return to game action as soon as Saturday against the Toronto Maple Leafs, according to multiple reports.

Speaking on MacKinnon's status, Avalanche's head coach Jared Bednar said he is ''very close'' to returning, and although he will not play on Thursday versus the Los Angeles Kings, there's a very good chance he returns in a big game on Saturday against the Maple Leafs.

The return of the twenty-seven-year-old is an obvious boost for the Avs, who have managed to go 6-3-1 in his absence, with five of those wins being one-score games.

Through 23 games this season, MacKinnon has eight goals and 26 assists for 34 points.
