Multiple Washington Capitals Return to Practice

At this point of the season, the Washington Capitals have an underwhelming 12-12-4 record. A major reason behind their slow start in 2022-23 is that they have been dealing with several notable injuries. Yet, it appears that some of their players are inching closer to returning, as Tom Wilson, Dmitry Orlov, and Nicklas Backstrom have returned to practice.

Wilson had ACL surgery last spring, but he is now finally back on the ice for the Capitals. The 28-year-old winger's immense physicality and solid offense are certainly missed this season by Washington. In 78 games last season, Wilson had 24 goals and 52 points, so there's no question that they would love to have him back in the lineup ASAP. Yet, at this juncture, no estimated return date is set, but it's big that he's back skating.

Orlov has been sidelined for over a month due to a lower-body injury. Before getting injured, the 31-year-old was off to a solid start this campaign, as he has five assists and a plus-3 rating in 13 games. Getting him back in their top four is going to be excellent once he is fully healthy and good to go.

Backstrom has skated with the team a few times this season, but there is no still estimated return date for the veteran. The 35-year-old is recovering from hip surgery. In 47 games last season, the 15-year veteran had six goals and 31 points.
