New York Islanders Call Up Goalie

The New York Islanders have called up Cory Schneider. This move comes after Semyon Varlamov left Saturday's game early due to an injury.

Schneider has been having a fantastic season with the Bridgeport Islanders, and the truth is in his stats. In 15 appearances, he sports a 2.50 GAA to go along with a .921 SV%.

If Varlamov's injury ends up being short-term, it is unlikely that we will see Schneider get a start during this call-up. Yet, if this ends up keeping him out for, say, a few weeks, it could lead the Marblehead native to get into some game action. In 410 career NHL games, Schneider has a 171-159-58 record.
