NHL Rumors: Blues' Veteran Forward Linked To Oilers

The St. Louis Blues have been linked to the Edmonton Oilers as the Blues appear primed for a re-tooling. With that will come a few of their players being moved out this season and in the offseason. Among the group of players potentially on their way out, the Oilers have interest in Noel Acciari, per Elliotte Friedman.

The veteran forward is a unrestricted free agent at the end of the season and has a low cap hit of $1.25 million. He has been well worth it for the Blues as the 31-year-old has eight goals and 12 points in 31 games. For the spot he's playing in the lineup and the role he has, he is becoming a fairly valuable trade piece for the Blues who sit outside of a playoff spot.

Acciari is exactly what the Oilers could be looking for at the deadline to upgrade their bottom-six. He is great in the faceoff circle is an area the Oilers struggle at in their bottom-six. He also is physical and relied on heavily in his own end. Acciari has 91 hits this season already, 35 blocked shots, is a regular on the penalty kill, and starts 61 percent of draws in his own end. Plus he adds the scoring element that the Oilers have always had a tough time getting from the bottom of their lineup.

If the Blues continue to stay outside of the playoffs looking in, expect discussions to pick up involving Acciari.
