NHL Rumors: Kings Biding Time With Trades To Make Room For Jordan Spence

The Los Angeles Kings are a solid team, but they aren't ready to compete for a Stanley Cup just yet. They need a few pieces which includes someone to rely on in net and a better left shot defenceman to play the left side.

Elliotte Friedman said on 32 Thoughts, "I do think the Kings are looking for a left shot defenceman. I just don't know if they feel the pressure to do it right now. Everyone knows the Kings have a lot of people on the right side, but one of the things the Kings have kind of indicated is they can wait a little bit of time if they want to because the clock really starts next year with making sure there's a spot for Jordan Spence."

It's well known that the Kings have far too many right shot defencemen than they can work into their lineup and trades are coming. Their top two defensive prospects, Brandt Clarke and Spence, are both right shot defencemen as well while the team has Drew Doughty, Sean Durzi, Matt Roy, and Sean Walker.

Jakob Chychrun has been a name connected to the Kings because this team is one of few that have an amazing prospect pool to easily dip into to acquire the services of such a player. They may be biding their time because Clarke and Spence don't have to be rushed to be full-time NHL players this season. That is why the clock is said to start next season when the youth has one more year of experience.

Trades are coming and we will see Spence in a Kings uniform permanently soon enough.
