NHL Rumors: LA Kings to Target Detroit Red Wings' Goalie

The Los Angeles Kings made major news when they placed Cal Petersen on waivers. The 28-year-old has been struggling immensely this season, as his .868 SV% and 3.75 GAA show quite effectively. Given his poor play and waiver placement, it seems more than likely that the Kings will be aiming to acquire a new goalie before the deadline passes. One target who should be on their radar is Detroit Red Wings netminder Alex Nedeljkovic.

Ville Husso has emerged as the Red Wings' clear number-one goalie, while Nedeljkovic has struggled. In eight games on the year, the 26-year-old has a 2-3-2 record to go along with an .880 SV%. All of this makes it seem more likely than not that GM Steve Yzerman will move on from the pending UFA at the deadline. Don't be surprised to see the Kings make a push for him because of it.

Nedeljkovic may be struggling, but he is a prime bounce-back candidate. Keep in mind, in 2020-21, he had a ridiculous .932 SV% and 1.90 GAA in 23 games for the Carolina Hurricanes, so he can be excellent while at his best. Let's see if a move to LA is in the cards for him because of it.
