Seattle Kraken's Top Trade Candidate This Season

Though the Seattle Kraken currently hold down second place in their division, it is going to be a lot closer as the season progresses. The goaltending has already looked shaky and the team is bound to level out. That being said, they can afford to trade off one of their players, a forward, due to the sheer number of quality NHLers they have available to them.

The Kraken's forwards have been the most impressive part of their team going back to their inception last season. They surprised in 2021-22, but it is no surprise anymore. Seeing as they have  Shane Wright impatiently waiting for his shot at regular playing time in the NHL, general manager Ron Francis would be wise to force Dave Hakstol's hand by moving someone ahead of Wright.

The most likely candidate has to be Morgan Geekie. He is young and is having a good start to the season, but has been limited to under 10 minutes of ice time per game despite four goals and 10 points in 21 games. The 24-year-old is an RFA at the end of the season and there doesn't appear to be many opportunities for him to move up the lineup.

Geekie could be a valuable trade chip for the Kraken to help their defence whether they are in a playoff spot or not down the line.
