Senators Announce "Holiday Gift" To Fans With D-Man Extension

Calling it a "holiday gift" for their fans, the Ottawa Senators have announced a four-year extension for defenseman Artem Zub.

The deal, which begins after this season, has an AAV of $4.6M, and includes a 10-team no-trade list. Zub will earn $4M next season, $4.8M from 2024-25 through 2026-27.

"Artem's transition to North American hockey has been remarkable," said Senators general manager Pierre Dorion. "He has worked hard to establish himself as an excellent NHL player and a strong defender. He consistently helps make us a better defensive team while he's on the ice. We're pleased to reach agreement with him on an extension of this length."

Zub, a fan favourite, is in his 3rd year with the Senators, but has only played 14 games this season due to various injuries. He should be back in the lineup within a couple of weeks. Zub is averaging 22:00 TOI, and has two goals and two assists. Last season he notched 22 points in 81 games.
