Winnipeg Jets' Top Trade Candidate This Season

The Winnipeg Jets have really started to inject youth into their defence as Ville Heinola and Dylan Samberg have been pushing for spots for a while. They are both currently in the lineup while Nate Schmidt and Logan Stanley are injured, but decisions will have to be made once they return.

Both Heinola and Samberg have shown promise and the Jets would definitely like to keep them in the NHL and in their organization. That means Stanley should be the odd man out. He is a year or more older than the two young defencemen I mentioned and it looks like Stanley has reached his peak.

He is a big former first round pick that seems to be stuck in his development and doesn't look like he will earn more than the sixth-most minutes among defencemen on the team. In three seasons he hasn't averaged more than 16 minutes and in seven games this season he is below 14 minutes and no points. He will block shots, hit, and is a big body on the ice, but isn't the fastest and will take penalties.

The Jets don't need the 24-year-old who is a RFA after the season, and it won't be too difficult to move him, regardless of what sort of return they get for him.
