3 Maple Leafs' 2023 Trade Targets to Help Blue Line

The Toronto Maple Leafs will be one of the busier teams ahead of the March 3 trade deadline. General manager Kyle Dubas has been on the road lately scouting a number of teams and many insiders feel he's looking for another defenseman to add to his group. Here's a few likely targets as the Maple Leafs look to add to their blue line:

Jakob Chychrun, Arizona Coyotes

Dubas watched the Coyotes closely of late, and all signs are pointing to Jakob Chychrun being the team's 'home-run candidate'. It's going to take a massive package to get the Coyotes to bite here, however the Maple Leafs have the prospects to get it done. Arizona native Matthew Knies is someone the Yotes want, we'll see if the Leafs budge off their top forward prospect.

Carson Soucy, Seattle Kraken

The Leafs and Kraken made a move last season involving Mark Giordano and it's worked out nicely for Toronto. This season there could be another move between these two clubs, with Carson Soucy on Dubas' wish list. Soucy has been linked to the team by a number of insiders. The only issue we see....the Kraken are all of a sudden a contender in the Western Conference, so why would they move out one of their best defenseman?

Jake McCabe, Chicago Blackhawks

If Jake Muzzin is going to be out for the season and could potentially have to retire because of his neck injury, adding Jake McCabe from the Blackhawks may be the fall back plan. He's signed for two more seasons at a reasonable $4 million and could fill in on the PK and being a physical presence. The Blackhawks and Leafs have trade history together so keep an eye on these two teams leading up to the deadline.
