Bruins Rumors: Latest on David Pastrnak Extension Talks

The Boston Bruins have been aiming to sign superstar winger David Pastrnak to an extension since the offseason, but they just have not been able to come to terms. Although there naturally is concern among Bruin fans because of this, it appears that things could change soon on that front. While on TSN Insider Trading last night (Jan. 17), NHL insider Darren Dreger confirmed that Boston is getting closer to signing Pastrnak to a new deal.

This is very encouraging news, as Dreger noted that they have made more progress from just a few weeks ago, so if talks continue to head in this direction, we should see Pasta ink a new deal. Dreger then noted that there is still more work to do, however, as they are still discussing the cap hit of the deal. However, he also reported that they both want to go with an eight-year, maximum-term deal.

Pastrnak is a player that Boston needs to keep around if they hope to remain as contenders when their veterans start to leave. We will have to wait and see if a new contract is finalized soon.
