Insider Links Luke Schenn to the Boston Bruins

The Vancouver Canucks continue to discuss trade scenarios for just about every one of their players. Management recently admitted the team's core is going to change and so are a lot of their complimentary pieces. This includes defenseman Luke Schenn, who was recently linked to a contender.

According to Pierre LeBrun of the Athletic, Schenn would be a great match for the Boston Bruins:

I’m not sure there’s really any glaring need on the powerhouse B’s, but any team that’s serious about a deep playoff run will look for depth, and my sense is adding a right-hand shot defenseman is something that Boston may look at. And I love the idea of the veteran Schenn in a Bruins uniform. Talk about a guy who would endear himself in a hurry to that fan base. He plays the game hard and physically and would be an ideal addition for depth.

LeBrun would confirm the two teams have already discussed this deal and talks could advance in the coming weeks. The Tampa Bay Lightning are another team interested in Schenn so there could be a bidding war for his services.

The rugged blueliner won two Cups with the Bolts and will look to get back into a deep playoff run this season. So far in 43 games, the 33-year-old defensemen has recorded 14 points and registered a whopping 203 hits. Physicality and sandpaper are two things a number of playoff-bound teams could use more of so expect to see Schenn's name involved in several trade scenarios leading up to the March 3 trade deadline.
