Kraken's Top Prospect Expecting a Trade in Coming Days

The Seattle Kraken have reassigned top prospect Shane Wright to the Kingston Frontenacs of the Ontario Hockey League, however it doesn't sound like Wright will suit up for Kingston this season after all.

There's been plenty of speculation brewing from some of the best insiders in the game that Wright is being moved by Kingston for a huge trade package, with the Barrie Colts and Peterborough Petes as heavy favorites for his services.

Wright is fresh off leading Team Canada to a gold medal at the 2023 World Junior Championships. He's been in the news most of the season because he made the Kraken out of camp but couldn't find himself regular playing time. Wright was then shipped down to the AHL before the World Juniors and lit it up, scoring four goals in five games.

For Team Canada, Wright who team captain, recorded seven points in seven games. He's likely getting dealt to the Colts, who are also expected to welcome back Wright's Canadian teammate and LA Kings defenseman Brandt Clarke. Wright should put up massive numbers down the stretch and could help lead any team to a long playoff run.
