NHL Rumors: Canucks Trading Defenseman to Eastern Conference

According to multiple reports, the Tampa Bay Lightning are a team to watch ahead of the trade deadline and specifically when it comes to trade targets off the Vancouver Canucks. The Bolts are looking to add some depth to their blue line and have their eyes on a familiar face in Luke Schenn.

Schenn won two Stanley Cups with the Lightning and is a pending free agent on a very reasonable deal at $850,000.

So far this season in Vancouver, Schenn has recorded 14 points in 42 games. He's also thrown 196 hits and blocked 69 shots. Schenn's a great penalty killer and could give the Lightning a boost when it comes to their shut-down game.

Schenn spent 2019-2021 with the Bolts, and while he didn't play a major role, he was a complimentary piece who appeared in some of their biggest postseason games during their Stanley Cup runs. To acquire the veteran blueliner, the Lightning will likely have to give up a third-round pick and mid-level prospect.
