NHL Rumors: Carolina Hurricanes Linked to Florida Panthers Center

Earlier this week, Frank Seravalli argued that the Carolina Hurricanes’ primary objective for the trade deadline should be to add a second-line center. Overall, it is easy to understand why this is a need for the Hurricanes, as they have yet to find a legitimate replacement for Vincent Trocheck. With the Florida Panthers struggling this season, there have been rumblings that they may be open to trading Sam Bennett for the right price, as Seravalli addressed in that same piece. This should grab the attention of Carolina, as Bennett would serve quite nicely as their 2C.

Bennett is once again having a solid season with the Panthers this year, as he has 8 goals to go along with 25 points. Yet, he also provides a nice blend of physicality and solid defensive play, so he truly is the whole package. As a result, this is the kind of player that the Hurricanes should be pursuing as they aim to win their first Stanley Cup since 2006.

it will be intriguing to see if the Panthers decide to part ways with Bennett. If he is in fact made available at the deadline, Carolina should certainly be calling.
