NHL Rumors: Detroit Red Wings to Shop Forward

The Detroit Red Wings are getting ready to be sellers at the deadline, as their playoff hopes have fallen dramatically over the last few weeks. Although they are heading in the right direction with their rebuild, they still have work to do to become a legitimate playoff team. As a result of all of this, one player who we likely will see moved at the deadline is pending unrestricted free agent Oskar Sundqvist.

There’s no question that Sundqvist will receive a good amount of attention if he is officially shopped by the Red Wings. After all, he is a big-bodied, versatile forward who offers a nice blend of secondary scoring and strong defensive play. Furthermore, he also has two Stanley Cups on his résumé, so he has gotten the job done when it mattered most in the past.

Teams looking for a boost on either their third line or fourth line will certainly need to consider the prospect of making a push for him from here. Overall, he is the kind of under-the-radar player that contenders love to get, so let’s see who ends up winning the sweepstakes for his services from here.
