NHL Rumors: Jets & Flyers Emerging as Trade Partners

The Winnipeg Jets will be buyers and the Philadelphia Flyers will be sellers ahead of the March 3 trade deadline and there's potential for a blockbuster move between these two clubs. The Jets are looking to add a depth forward and a top-four defenseman and the Flyers may have exactly what their looking for.

Rumors out of Winnipeg are citing a potential trade involving Ivan Provorov and Zack MacEwen of the Flyers heading to the Jets. Winnipeg would then send a package to Philly which included defensemen Ville Heinola and Dylan Samberg.

Provorov addressed trade rumors recently and you could tell his patience was running thing with all the losses piling up with the Flyers. Provorov has two seasons left on his contract paying him $6.7 million per season and so far in 42 games this season, has recorded 15 points. MacEwen is a bang-and-crash forward who would give the Jets another option for their third or fourth line. He has recorded nine points in 38 games and has spent some time in the AHL this season.

Heinola is a former first-round pick who is still trying to land consistent minutes in the league. Samberg is a recent second-round pick and has showed well this season with eight points in 34 games for the Jets.

Winnipeg head coach Rick Bowness is known as the defensemen whisperer and we'll be curious to see if this deal goes down if he can get Provorov back to his old ways when he was flirting with 50-point seasons.
