NHL Rumors: New York Rangers Linked to Star Forward

Vladimir Tarasenko is viewed as one of the top rental candidates for this year’s trade deadline. He has yet to have his trade request from last year granted, but now that he is inching closer to unrestricted free agency, it seems likely that the Blues will change that if they cannot get back into the playoff race. As a result, multiple teams are already linked to Tarasenko. According to The Fourth Period, the New York Rangers are one of them.

It makes sense that the Rangers want to add another high-impact forward to their group before the deadline passes, as they have Stanley Cup aspirations. Bringing in Tarasenko would give them another legitimate top-six forward for the playoffs, and that is something that the Blueshirts would certainly benefit from.

However, for a move to occur, it seems likely that the Rangers would need St. Louis to retain some of Tarasenko’s salary to help it go through. Yet, with Tarasenko being a pending UFA, it seems likely that the Blues would be open to doing this if it helps them land a little something extra in the deal. Alas, let’s see if something between these two clubs occurs at the deadline.
