NHL Rumors: Predators Defenseman Becoming Trade Candidate

In a recent piece for Daily Faceoff, Frank Seravalli speculated that Ryan McDonagh could be available from the Nashville Predators.

McDonagh carries a no-trade clause, so he would have to approve any move out of Nashville. Yet, if the Predators begin to embrace a retooling period or even a full-on rebuild, it certainly seems possible that the veteran defenseman would be willing to play for a real contender.

McDonagh has been a strong addition for the Predators this season, as he has offered them more defensive stability on the backend. In 29 games on the year, the 33-year-old has eight assists to go along with a plus-9 rating. Although his best offensive days are over, he is still a very solid top-four defenseman. As a result, it seems very likely that several teams will be interested in them if Nashville officially makes him available. We will now have to wait and see if they do just that as we get closer to the deadline.
