NHL Rumors: Seattle Kraken Looking to Fill Specific Need via Trade

The Seattle Kraken have surprised many this season as their second year in the NHL has been much better than their first. The Kraken sit as one of the best teams in the Western Conference and look for general manager Ron Francis to be aggressive this season leading up to the March 3 trade deadline.

According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, the Kraken are in the market for another defenseman. The team has done a good job upgrading their forward group throughout the past few months and the same can be said about their goaltending. Their defensive depth however, look for this to be addressed before the deadline.

Trade candidates include Radko Gudas of the Florida Panthers, Jakob Chychrun of Arizona Coyotes, Erik Karlsson of the San Jose Sharks, Justin Braun of the Philadelphia Flyers and Vladislav Gavrikov of the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Kraken have just over $5 million in cap space leading up to the trade deadline and have a slew of second-round picks which could be appealing to other teams as the 2023 draft is expected to be very deep.
