NHL Rumors: Tampa Bay Lightning Interested in Senators Forward

The Tampa Bay Lightning are once again one of the best teams in the NHL, so we all should expect them to be big buyers at the trade deadline yet again. With the Ottawa Senators quickly falling out of the playoff race, they are expected to be sellers, and one player who Tampa Bay should target from them is Tyler Motte because of this.

In a recent piece for Daily Faceoff, NHL insider Frank Seravalli argued that the Lightning should consider bringing in more depth at the deadline. Motte certainly would give them just that, as he is proven to be a quality bottom-six forward who can play all three positions. As a result, he could come in handy if acquired by the Lightning.

Motte also offers a nice blend of physicality to go along with strong defensive play, so he could be a solid penalty killer for Tampa Bay if they end up adding him to their roster. Alas, let’s see if these Atlantic Division teams end up completing a swap from here.
