Ottawa Senators Making Notable Scratch

The Ottawa Senators are desperately trying to get themselves back into the playoff hunt, but they just have not been able to win consistently. As a way to shake things up, the Senators are making a notable scratch, as Mathieu Joseph will be sitting out next game.

This is a notable scratch because the Senators signed Joseph to a four-year, $11.8 million contract after he had a strong 2021-22 season. Following being traded to the Senators from the Tampa Bay Lightning at the deadline, he recorded 12 points in just 11 games. Yet, this season he has cooled off noticeably, as he has two goals and nine points in 25 games.

Perhaps this will be the wake-up call that needs Joseph to get his game back on track. We will need to wait and see if that does in fact come to fruition from here.
