Washington Capitals Forward Placed on Waivers

In response to Nicklas Backstrom and Tom Wilson being activated off of injured reserve, the Washington Capitals have placed Joe Snively on waivers.

After scoring four goals and recording seven points in 12 games as a 26-year-old rookie last season, Snively has recorded just one assist in six games this year. As a result, perhaps this waiver placement is not all too surprising. Now, the rest of the league will have the opportunity to claim the Virginia native if they wish to.

With Snively carrying only an $800,000 cap hit until the end of the 2023–24 season, there could be teams out there who are willing to add him to their group. Injuries are only piling up as the year goes on, and Snively could be a decent depth forward for situations such as these. Let’s see if he ends up finding a new home from here. If not, he will be joining the Hershey Bears.
