Winnipeg Jets Make Big Decision With Top Prospect

After loaning top prospect Brad Lambert to junior, the Winnipeg Jets have done the same with fellow top prospect Chaz Lucius, as he will be joining the Portland Winterhawks for the remainder of the season.

Lucius was selected with the 18th overall pick of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, so he naturally is one of the Jets' most notable prospects. The 19-year-old forward played one season with the University of Minnesota last season, where he had 19 points in 24 games. From there, he elected to begin his professional career, where he had five points in 12 games with the Manitoba Moose this campaign. He also scored five goals and had seven points at the World Junior Championships, but now, he is heading to Portland.

Overall, this is a good chance for Lucius to have a bigger role. The Winterhawks will certainly love to have him around, as he surely will provide them with significant offense during the second half of their season. Alas, let's see how he responds to this move from here.
