3 Potential Landing Spots for Canucks Conor Garland

The Vancouver Canucks aren't finished wheeling and dealing and pesky forward Conor Garland could be next. Garland has found himself on a number of trade boards and before March 3 he could find himself switching jerseys. Here's a few potential destinations:

New Jersey Devils

A team he's been linked to before, Garland is on the Devils radar. The team is looking for a scoring winger with term left on their contract and he fits the bill. Garland is signed through the 2025-26 season at $4.95 million. He doesn't hold any trade protection and can be moved at will. So far this season, the 26-year-old has recorded 24 points in 48 games in what he'd consider a down year. In 2021-22, Garland collected 52 points in 77 games and a move to the Devils could rejuvenate his offensive touch.

Washington Capitals

The Capitals are a team to watch as they look for some help up front. Management is going for it as long as Ovechkin is the in #8 jersey so expect to see the Caps move out a prospect or two and some high draft picks. It would likely take a mid-level prospect and a second-round pick to land Garland, and that's certainly within Washington's wheel house.

Calgary Flames

Flames general manager Brad Treliving is working the phones hard and may have to make a deal with a rival to land what he's looking for. The Flames need offense and want to insert someone into their top six. Garland has a Darryl Sutter-type work ethic so there could be a match here. It's just going to come down to the acquisition price between two clubs who play each other a lot.
