Arizona Coyotes Rumors: 5 Teams Still In On Chychrun, 2 Teams Out

Jakob Chychrun talks have picked up a bit as the Arizona Coyotes are really trying to move him before the trade deadline just days away. They have held him out of action for over two weeks and they would lose assets on a return if they wait any longer. With their star defenceman on such a great contract and the team still looking to rebuild for a few more years, they can't afford to not trade him right now.

According to Elliotte Friedman, there are five teams in on Chychrun right now, two teams that are out, and one team that is on the fence. As the Coyotes don't really want to take money back in a trade, it may make things a bit difficult. The five teams still in on Chychrun are the Columbus Blue Jackets, Los Angeles Kings, Pittsburgh Penguins, St. Louis Blues, and Washington Capitals, none of which are real Stanley Cup contenders at the moment.

The two teams that are out are the Florida Panthers due to lack of assets to acquire Chychrun, and the Ottawa Senators. It appears as though the Senators have turned their attention elsewhere even though they freed up cap space and a roster spot on defence and it is the area where they most need to improve. The team on the fence remains the Edmonton Oilers. With recent reports from Darren Dreger that the Oilers have engaged in trade talks on Mattias Ekholm and Joel Edmundson, it appears as though there is interest in adding a defenceman. The Oilers have the assets to acquire Chychrun if they have the intent to. The injury history could play a part in any of these team's interest and willingness to give up what the Coyotes are asking in return.
