Maple Leafs & Blackhawks Complete Blockbuster Trade

The Toronto Maple Leafs continue their all-in ways as they've once again made a blockbuster trade, this time with the Chicago Blackhawks. The Leafs have acquired defenseman Jake McCabe and forward Sam Lafferty from the Blackhawks in exchange for a number of picks and prospects.

The Blackhawks are retaining 50% of McCabe's $4 million annual salary, which he is signed to through the 2024-25 season. Lafferty is signed to a $1.15 million contract through the rest of this season and next. He's having a fine season as Lafferty is tied for the league lead in shorthanded goals and has collected 21 points in 51 games so far this season.

McCabe will be brought into Toronto to replace what Jake Muzzin brought to the table. He's recorded 20 points in 55 games this season to go along with 122 hits and 115 blocked shots.
