NHL Rumors: Chychrun Linked To 2 Surprising Teams

As a Jakob Chychrun trade is imminent, there are a number of teams that have at least checked in on him as he would be a massive piece for any playoff contender. Though it seems like teams like the Los Angeles Kings and Toronto Maple Leafs may be leading the pack, there are two surprising teams linked to the Arizona Coyotes' defender - Calgary Flames and Winnipeg Jets.

Both the Flames and Jets have been more heavily linked to a top-six forward, but aren't against adding defensive help. The Flames have been more connected to defencemen before the deadline as they have holes this season. They lack a number one defenceman and have been dealing with injuries. They could add depth or a top-four player as they are wildly unpredictable this season.

The Jets have a number one defenceman and their defensive unit is fairly strong and jam packed with players. They are an interesting team here because Chychrun wouldn't be on the top power-play unit if acquired, but could surely add to the goal-scoring and overall offensive production from the Jets' back-end. He would instantly make them a legitimate top Stanley Cup contender.

We likely won't have to wait too long until a trade is made by the Coyotes as Chychrun is being held out of action until a deal is completed.
