NHL Rumors: Hockey Insider Names 4 Teams as 'Buyers'

According to hockey insider Kevin Weekes, there's going to be plenty of action ahead of the trade deadline and we can expect to see four teams become 'buyers' ahead of March 3. These teams include the New York Rangers, Vegas Golden Knights, Dallas Stars and New Jersey Devils.

Let's start with the Rangers, they've already acquired Vladimir Tarasenko and they're reportedly still interested in adding Patrick Kane from the Chicago Blackhawks. Don't expect GM Chris Drury to do much with his goaltender or blue line and it will likely be another winger he adds before the deadline.

The Golden Knights moved out some money and now have some cap flexibility heading into the 2023 trade deadline and for moving forward. They will be in the market for rentals and players with term. Kane is one player to watch and so is Timo Meier of the San Jose Sharks.

The Devils love Meier as well and will be in on him. GM Tom Fitzgerald wants a top-six forward with term left on their contract so if it's not Meier, look for the Devils to try and land Brock Boeser from the Vancouver Canucks.

The Stars are in the market for forward help and have also been linked to Kane. They already dealt their first-round pick in '23 to the Rangers earlier this season so will be dealing top prospects and future picks before the deadline. The team currently has $2.5 million in deadline cap space and shouldn't have a problem moving out some money in the process. Word is the Blackhawks want Denis Gurianov in any Kane deal.
