NHL Rumors: Red Wings & Sharks Talking Blockbuster Trade

The Detroit Red Wings are heading in the right direction, but it also seems that their playoff hopes are starting to decrease. As a result, they are not expected to be in the trade market for rentals. However, it now appears that they are considering bringing in players who could become a part of their long-term core. According to the Fourth Period, the Red Wings are one of the teams expressing interest in San Jose Sharks star forward Timo Meier.

Sharks GM Mike Grier has made it known that the club is open for business, and they are open to trading virtually anyone except Tomas Hertl. As a result, Meier can be had for the right price, and the Red Wings have the assets to make it work.

Meier has the potential to be a major part of the Red Wings’ forward group if he is acquired, and he is still young enough where he would fit in with their current roster. Alas, we will need to wait and see if Detroit ends up being the lucky team to acquire him from here.
