Ottawa Senators Rumors: 3 Trade Destinations For Austin Watson

Even though the Ottawa Senators are just five points out of a playoff spot with 24 games to go, they have to leapfrog five teams to get in. The team has definitely been playing better but it will be tough for them to climb in the standings. That being said, they may choose to sell some of their players at the trade deadline and look to reset in the offseason.

Among the list of players that may go is Austin Watson who has been getting some trade interest by a few teams in the West. Bruce Garrioch reported that it is believed the Dallas Stars, Los Angeles Kings, and Colorado Avalanche are teams that have kicked tires on Watson. He would be slotted in on the fourth line and add that playoff toughness so many teams love to have available to them.

Watson is a definite fourth line player this season for the Senators and doesn't provide much offence. What has gotten him interest is the physicality and toughness. He will fight and stand up for his teammates while delivering hits often.

The Stars and Avalanche without a doubt have a forward depth problem and they would both have room for Watson in their lineup and could use his skillset. He will likely cost just a late-round pick in the draft, but there's no use for the Senators to keep around the 31-year-old pending UFA.
