Philadelphia Flyers Rumors: James van Riemsdyk Linked to Contender

In a recent episode of TSN Insider Trading, Chris Johnston reported that the Colorado Avalanche have expressed interest in Philadelphia Flyers veteran forward James van Riemsdyk.

van Riemsdyk has garnered interest from several teams around the league, but this is the first time that the Avalanche have been linked to the veteran winger. Yet, at the same time, it makes sense that they are considering making a push for the 2007 second-overall pick. After all, the Avalanche are aiming to repeat as Stanley Cup champions, and star winger Gabriel Landeskog's return is not guaranteed. Thus, bringing in a forward like JVR could be beneficial for their middle six.

van Riemsdyk is still an effective forward at this point of his career. In 39 games played this season, the 33-year-old has nine goals and 23 points. Overall, he has the potential to provide solid secondary scoring for Colorado if acquired, so we will need to wait and see if that is where he ends up going from here.
