Seattle Kraken Place Goalie On Waivers

We have a new goaltender on waivers, as the Seattle Kraken have placed Chris Driedger on the wire.

This waiver placement indicates that Driedger is ready to return to action. The 28-year-old has missed the entirety of this season due to torn ACL. Yet, instead of returning right back to Seattle's NHL roster, he will be joining the Coachella Valley Firebirds if he clears waivers.

With this roster move, the Kraken have established that they will continue to sport a goalie tandem of Philipp Grubauer and Martin Jones. In 22 games this season, Grubauer has an 8-9-3 record, 2.81 GAA, and .900 SV%. Jones, on the other hand, has a 23-10-3 record, 2.95 GAA, and .892 SV%.

With Driedger missing all of this season and having a $3.5 million cap hit until the end of next season, it seems unlikely that he will be claimed. In 27 appearances for the Kraken last season, he put together a 9-14-1 record, 2.96 GAA, and .899 SV%.
