Toronto Maple Leafs Sign Defenseman to Extension

The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed Conor Timmins to a two-year, $2.2 million contract extension ($1.1 AAV).

Timmins has earned this extension with the Maple Leafs. Since being traded by the Arizona to the Leafs, the 6-foot-2 defenseman has taken a major step forward with his play. In 20 games as a Leaf, he already has one goal and 12 points. Overall, he has been a nice surprise for the Maple Leafs, and now he has earned this great extension as a reward for his strong play.

Timmins has always been viewed as having a lot of potential, but significant injury trouble unfortunately slowed down his development. Although he has four NHL seasons on his resume, he has played in just 59 games. Yet, if he continue to stay healthy from here, he has the potential be a nice part of Toronto's defensive group moving forward.

Nevertheless, this is a great day for Timmins, as he has landed this two-year pact. Let's see how he responds to earning it through his play from here.
