Washington Capitals Rumors: Defenseman Garnering Trade Interest

It's selling season for the Washington Capitals, and they made that clear when they shipped Dmitry Orlov and Garnet Hathaway to the Boston Bruins. However, that is just the tip of the iceberg for Washington, as Nick Jensen is now garnering a lot of interest in the trade market.

Jensen is another pending unrestricted free agent for the Capitals who is a strong rental candidate. The 32-year-old has quietly had a solid campaign for Washington this season, as he has two goals to go along with 20 assists in 60 games. Teams looking for a bit of help on their second or third pairing should certainly consider adding the Minnesota native.

The right-shot defenseman trade market is not too strong at the moment, so Jensen is becoming a hot commodity. It also does not hurt that he carries an affordable $2.5 million cap hit, so expect several teams to enter the sweepstakes from here. Some specific teams to keep an eye on include the Toronto Maple Leafs, Tampa Bay Lightning, Calgary Flames, and Edmonton Oilers.
