3 Potential Trade Destinations for Arizona Coyotes' Karel Vejmelka

Now that the NHL Trade Deadline has come and gone. We will look at players that could be on the move this offseason. The Arizona Coyotes have spent the last two seasons acquiring as much draft capital as they can. They now own the rights to 37 draft picks in the next three NHL drafts, which can set up a very deep prospect pool. However, they can also be used to acquire players when the team is finally done with their rebuild. During the current Coyotes' rebuild, they have found a diamond in the rough, Karel Vejmelka. So, here are three potential trade destinations for him this offseason.

Pittsburgh Penguins

The Pittsburgh Penguins' goaltending situation could be very interesting this off-season. Their current goaltender Tristian Jarry is set to become a UFA at the end of the season, and there is speculation that the Penguins won't bring him back. With that, Pittsburgh could be looking for a new starting goalie this off-season. There are plenty of options via trade or free agency, but one that one to mind is Karel Vejmelka. Vejmelka could be a reliable option for the Penguins next season, alongside Casey DeSmith.

Philadelphia Flyers

The Philadelphia Flyers are entering a full-on rebuild next season, and could part ways with Carter Hart. Hart will generate a lot of interest around the NHL, he is a young goalie with a high upside but hasn't played to his potential thus far in his career. If and when the Flyers do trade him, Vejmelka should be on the top of their list for a replacement. The Flyers have a good core but have struggled in net over the last few seasons, acquiring Vejmelka could help the team fast-track their rebuild.

Toronto Maple Leafs

Similar to the Penguins, the Toronto Maple Leafs' goaltending situation could see yet another do-over next season. Currently, they have Ilya Samsonov and Matt Murray as a tandem, although Murray has been injured for a good portion of the season, he is still under contract for next season. As for Samsonov, he has become the starter and has done well, but is a UFA at the end of the season. If Toronto can't get an extension done with Samsonov, replacing him with Vejmelka could be a good idea. Vejmelka is a good goalie in a bad situation with Arizona, and if he comes to Toronto he could become a reliable starter at a cheap price.
