Calgary Flames Rumors: 3 Free Agents to Target This Offseason

Welcome to NHL Trade Rumors' 2023 Free-Agent Targets series. During it, we will be discussing three pending unrestricted free agents that each team should aim to sign.

In this latest piece, we will be discussing the Calgary Flames. After a very underwhelming season, they are expected to be active in free agency.

Vladimir Tarasenko: The Flames have had serious scoring trouble this season, so their primary objective this offseason should be to add a top-six forward. As a result, winger Vladimir Tarasenko stands out as a prime free-agent target for them. In 60 games this season, the 31-year-old has 15 goals to go along with 43 points.

Ivan Barbashev: The Flames love physical players, so perhaps a player like Ivan Barbashev could be on their radar this offseason. He would fit anywhere in their lineup as well, as he can play all three forward positions. With that, he provides solid secondary scoring and is defensively responsible. Therefore, he would work on both of their special team units as well.

Nick Foligno: The Flames should be looking to add a bottom-six forward to their group this offseason as well with Milan Lucic's contract coming off of the books. Thus, perhaps a veteran forward like Nick Foligno could make sense for them. The 35-year-old has had a strong bounce-back season with the Boston Bruins, as he has 10 goals and 26 points in 60 games.
