Seattle Kraken Rumors: Young Forward Becoming Trade Target

The Seattle Kraken, much like the rest of the Western Conference, has been fairly quiet at the trade deadline this season. They made one early move in acquiring depth defenceman Jaycob Megna, but nothing since. It appears as though another one of their depth players has come up in trade rumours, per Frank Seravalli.

This time it is regarding a forward. Young center Morgan Geekie has popped up in trade rumours and the Kraken see value in capitalizing on high prices, but also want to make the playoffs. They are in good position to make the playoffs for the first time in their second season as they sit five points ahead of the Calgary Flames with one game in hand.

The Kraken, like many of the teams in the West, haven't played the best as of late and have just four wins in their past 10 games. It's not time to worry and the depth scoring has not been an issue for Seattle. Geekie is a part of that seeing as he has seven goals and 20 points in 50 games this season averaging under 10:30 per game on the fourth line. Though the depth is great for the Kraken this season, that could change by the end of the season or even next season, possibly lowering Geekie's value. There isn't much room for him to move up the lineup anytime soon, so the 24-year-old who's on pace to have his best NHL season, could go at a great price.

Watch for Geekie to potentially be part of a larger deal to get Seattle their reinforcements this season.
