Washington Capitals Rumors: Forward Expected to be Traded

Before the trade deadline passed, Washington Capitals forward Anthony Mantha was talked about often in the rumor mill. A trade did not end up coming to fruition, but that is expected to change during the summer, as the Capitals are preparing to shop him yet again.

Moving Mantha during the summer should be an easier task to complete for the Capitals, as teams around the league will have more salary cap available. With that, Mantha will be entering the final year of his contract, so teams may be more interested in bringing him in as a full-year rental. This is especially so if he can heat up during the final portion of this season.

Mantha has shown in the past that he can be a legitimate top-six forward, but he also has had his struggles over the last few seasons in DC. A change of scenery seems to be needed at this time, and we will need to wait and see who ends up acquiring the power forward from here because of it.
