Los Angeles Kings Rumors: 3 Free Agents to Target This Offseason

Welcome to NHL Trade Rumors' 2023 Free-Agent Targets series. During it, we will be discussing three pending unrestricted free agents that each team should aim to sign.

In this latest installment of the series, we will be focusing on the Los Angeles Kings.

Tristan Jarry: If the Kings are unable to re-sign Joonas Korpisalo before free agency begins, they will likely be in on the Tristan Jarry sweepstakes. Goaltending was an issue for the Kings much of this before Korpisalo was acquired, and they will need to replace him with a legitimate starter if they lose him. Thus, Jarry stands out as their potential prime free-agent target.

Dmitry Orlov: The Kings need to improve the left side of their defensive group. They acquired Vladislav Gavrikov as a short-term fix, but he is expected to test the market this summer. Thus, if they are unable to bring him back, expect them to make a push for Dmitry Orlov. He is a legitimate top-four defenseman who has been simply excellent for the Boston Bruins since being moved there.

Ian Cole: If the Kings want to go the cheaper route, they also could take a look at veteran defenseman Ian Cole. The 34-year-old is having a solid season playing bottom-pairing minutes with the Lightning, as he has three goals, 14 assists, and a plus-13 rating. Overall, he would give the Kings a steady defensive defenseman who plays a heavy game.
