NHL Rumors: 3 Teams Expected to Target Ivan Barbashev This Offseason

Ivan Barbashev is a pending unrestricted free agent who will generate a lot of attention if he hits the open market. After all, he is a skilled player who can play all three forward positions, provides secondary scoring, and is solid defensively. Thus, let's discuss three specific teams who are expected to target him this offseason.

Vegas Golden Knights: Barbashev has been excellent since joining the Vegas Golden Knights. In 23 games following the move, he had six goals, 16 points, and a plus-11 rating. Overall, he has been a great fit, and it is quite likely that the Golden Knights will try to keep him around as more than just a rental because of it.

Boston Bruins: The Boston Bruins were heavily linked to Barbashev before the deadline. If they lose multiple pending UFAs this offseason, do not be surprised if they make a push for him again during the summer. He could work well down the middle for them but also would be a great option for their middle six as a winger on either side.

Toronto Maple Leafs: The Toronto Maple Leafs were also in on the Barbashev sweepstakes leading up to the deadline. The Leafs have a handful of pending UFA forwards, so they could look to sign him this summer as well. On paper, he looks like a marvelous match with their system.
