3 Potential Free-Agent Destinations for Vladimir Tarasenko

The New York Rangers will have some major decisions to make this offseason as general manager Chris Drury has his hands full. The team was ousted by their rival New Jersey Devils and now after a solid regular season, have nothing to show for it. Drury made a ton of moves during the 2022-23 season including adding Vladimir Tarasenko. The Russian forward recently admitted it will be a family first decision when it comes to which team he signs with this summer, here's a few potential destinations:

Washington Capitals

A team that has had Tarasenko on their radar for a few seasons, the Washington Capitals will be a team to watch this summer. They are trying to re-tool on the fly and stay relevant as Alex Ovechkin's career winds down. The Caps will be in the market for a top-six winger and Tarasenko and his 50-points will surely have their attention come July when free agency opens.

Pittsburgh Penguins

The Penguins will be an interesting team to watch once they hire some executives. The team will be transitioning their roster and with the likes of Jason Zucker likely leaving, adding Tarasenko could be in the cards. The Pens have over $20 million in cap space to work with and will be in the market for a top-six winger, a third-line center and a new starting netminder.

Nashville Predators

The Predators have close to $18 million to work with in cap space this summer and will be in the fold for some more offense. Given the climate, Nashville could be an area Tarasenko and his family want to reside for the foreseeable future. The Preds were close to making the Stanley Cup Playoffs this season and with a couple of fresh faces can get back to contention. They don't have many holes besides forward so look for them to have interest in signing Tarasenko to a multi-year deal come July.
