3 Potential Trade Destinations for Capitals' Evgeny Kuznetsov

Washington Capitals forward Evgeny Kuznetsov is not expected back with the hockey club next season as his agent recently made it loud and clear his client needs a change of scenery. The Capitals are likely in the same boat as Kuznetsov frustrated them throughout last season with his antics on and off the ice. Expect to see a trade as early as the NHL Entry draft and here's a few potential destinations:

St Louis Blues

The Blues and Capitals could pull off an expensive swap as Washington will be in the market for adding a defensemen this summer, along with a top-six winger. Perhaps Colton Parayko or Torey Krug could be approached about a deal to Washington as both player have trade protection. Kuznetsov finished last season with 55 points in 81 games and could provide the Blues a boost up front.

Winnipeg Jets

The Jets are expected to trade Pierre-Luc Dubois this summer to the Montreal Canadiens and if so, this could open up a door for Kuznetsov to end up in Winnipeg. There will be a huge hole down the middle for the Jets and they will be in the market to add some more offense up front. This could be a great landing spot for Kuznetsov to reset his career. You can't get into much trouble in Winnipeg....

Calgary Flames

There's been a lot of speculation brewing about Mikael Backlund's future in Calgary. Perhaps a swap for Kuznetsov could do both players wonders. It would allow each team a plug-and-play forward who can be inserted into each team's top six. The Flames will be looking to make a few changes this summer up front and it could start with some trade conversations with the Caps.
