Bruins Starting Goalie To Get Trade Interest

After the first round collapse and all the discussion about the future of the Boston Bruins, we could possibly see Linus Ullmark be traded this offseason. This was a topic of conversation last offseason when he didn't have a great season and he received trade interest. Once again, Jimmy Murphy noted that Ullmark's name could pop up again with teams interested.

The Bruins may have had the best regular season in NHL history, but Ullmark struggled in the playoffs, losing the starting job to Jeremy Swayman, and the team got eliminated. Swayman proved this season and last that he is the future in net for Boston. He is younger and his entry-level deal is ending. Ullmark on the other hand has two years left at $5 million AAV. The Bruins also have Brandon Bussi in the AHL, or if they feel Swayman is ready for more responsibility, they would easily be able to move Ullmark for a good return and bring in someone cheaper.

It's hard to think that the Bruins are going to get even close to where they were this season in 2023-24 because of all the bounces that went their way during the regular season. It may be best to trade Ullmark while his value is at the highest it will ever be, save money, re-coop assets, and re-tool for next season. There are certainly lots of teams who would be interested in adding the likely Vezina Trophy candidate.
