Carolina Hurricanes Rumors: Summer Blockbuster Trade Coming

The Carolina Hurricanes need a gamebreaker if they are finally going to get past the Eastern Conference Final. The 'Canes have been an elite team who can't seem to get over the hump for the past few seasons. Their owner and general manager are not shy about making bold moves and a summer blockbuster could be on the way.

There's been some speculation about a potential deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs, for Mitch Marner. While the chances are mighty slim, Leafs Nation has the trade rumors flying out of the fish bowl ever since Kyle Dubas was shown the door. For now, it doesn't appear any of the 'core four' are being moved by the Maple Leafs.

Carolina had to deal with major injuries to Max Pacioretty and Andrei Svechnikov, which certainly decreased their chances of getting to the Final. They struggled to score timely goals and were pushed around at times by the Florida Panthers.

This summer, look for the Hurricanes to reach out to free agents Patrick Kane, along with Ryan O'Reilly. As far as trade candidates go from Carolina, expect to see trade chatter pick up around Seth Jarvis, Jack Drury and one of their elite defensemen, who could fetch a top-six forward with ease.
