Carolina Hurricanes Rumors: Team Linked To 2 Pending UFA's

During the upcoming offseason, the Carolina Hurricanes need to prioritize addressing their various needs, particularly on the offensive side of the game.

One potential avenue to bolster their offense is through the acquisition of pending unrestricted free agents Tyler Bertuzzi of the Boston Bruins and James Van Riemsdyk of the Philadelphia Flyers, both of whom have recently been linked to the Hurricanes.

Tyler Bertuzzi, a 28-year-old forward, showcased his scoring prowess after being acquired by the Bruins from the Detroit Red Wings. In just 21 games, Bertuzzi notched four goals and 16 points, demonstrating his ability to contribute offensively, while also adding a nice physical, gritty presence.

His addition could add depth and skill to the Hurricanes' forward lines.

Another option for the Hurricanes to consider is James Van Riemsdyk, a seasoned 34-year-old forward who recently completed his 14th NHL season. Despite his age, Van Riemsdyk proved to be a consistent contributor with 12 goals and 29 points across 61 games this season.

His experience and offensive capabilities could provide a valuable boost to Carolina's scoring and bottom-six.

By targeting players like Bertuzzi and Van Riemsdyk, the Hurricanes would aim to address their offensive needs and strengthen their forward group.

These potential acquisitions could bring additional scoring threats and complement the existing talent on the roster, ultimately enhancing the team's ability to compete in the upcoming season. Photo Credit: Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports
